Glossary

Best crypto insights, explained in plain English.

Every signal and metric Crupto Terminal puts on screen, defined — what each one actually measures, and what it does not prove. These are the same definitions that ship inside the app, published here so you can read them before you buy.

Composite price

The median price across every connected exchange right now, not any single venue's number. Reduces the effect of one exchange briefly wicking on thin liquidity.

Buy/sell pressure

Total notional size resting on the bid side vs. the ask side, summed across every connected order book. More size on one side doesn't guarantee price moves that way — it just shows where more resting interest currently sits.

Wall

An order book level whose size is a statistical outlier (over 3x the median for that side). Flagged because it's unusually large, not because it's confirmed to be a spoof, an iceberg, or genuine resting size — those look identical from the outside.

Volume spike

Trade volume over the last 2 minutes clearing 4x a symbol's own trailing 30-minute average, computed off the same raw trade tape CVD is built from. It's a statistical outlier flag, not a claim about why.

CVD (cumulative volume delta)

Running total of aggressive buy volume minus aggressive sell volume, built from the trade tape (who lifted the ask vs. hit the bid). Resets every 24h. Rising CVD alongside flat price can flag quiet accumulation; the reverse can flag distribution.

Timeframe bias

The current forming candle's percent move on a given timeframe (1m through 1d). A quick read on short vs. long-term trend agreement — all timeframes green at once is a stronger trend signal than any one alone.

Order block

The last opposite-direction candle before a displacement move that breaks market structure — one algorithmic definition of where institutional-style orders may have been placed, not a guaranteed footprint. There's no single universal definition of this term across trading communities.

Liquidity grab

A candle's wick sweeps through a recent swing high or low (where stop-losses cluster) and then rejects back the other way. Read as a stop hunt that failed to hold, not as proof anyone was deliberately hunting stops.

Fakeout

A candle that closes beyond a recent range (a breakout) but fails to hold on the very next candle. A real breakout continues; a fakeout snaps back — this detector flags the failure after the fact.

Open interest (OI)

Total number of outstanding futures contracts that haven't been closed. Rising OI with rising price usually means new money is entering long; rising OI with falling price usually means fresh shorts. Falling OI in either direction means positions are being closed, not opened. OI's direction alone doesn't tell you bullish from bearish — only paired with price does.

Funding rate

On perpetual futures, longs and shorts periodically pay each other so the contract price tracks spot. A positive rate means longs are paying shorts (more long demand); very high positive funding often precedes long squeezes as that crowded positioning unwinds.

ETH exchange flow

Combined ETH balance of a handful of well-known exchange hot wallets. A rising balance means ETH is moving onto exchanges — often read as preparation to sell. A falling balance means ETH is moving into self-custody — often read as accumulation. This tracks a curated sample, not every exchange address that exists, so treat it as a directional hint, not a precise total.

Exchange status

Live connect/disconnect state for each of the six price venues. If a symbol's composite price looks stale, check whether the exchanges that list it have dropped connection.

Fear & Greed Index

A 0-100 sentiment gauge blending volatility, momentum/volume, social media, market dominance, and search trends into one number, updated daily. It's a mood reading, often used as a contrarian signal (extreme fear = capitulation, extreme greed = euphoria) — not a forecast.

BTC halving countdown

Bitcoin's block subsidy cuts in half every 210,000 blocks. This estimate is recomputed from the live block height (not a fixed date), assuming the long-run ~10 minute average block time — it'll drift a little as real block times vary and tighten as the halving gets close.

Price alerts

A threshold you set on a symbol's composite price. Fires once when crossed (in-app and via Telegram if configured), then removes itself — re-add it to watch that level again. Checked on every live composite price update, not on a separate timer.

RSI (Relative Strength Index)

A 0-100 momentum measure comparing the size of recent up-moves to recent down-moves over 14 candles. Above 70 is read as overbought, below 30 as oversold — a sign momentum has stretched, not a guarantee of a reversal. Recomputed fresh from closed candles each time (a documented simple-average variant), so it can read slightly differently than a Wilder-smoothed RSI on another platform.

Liquidation

A forced close of a leveraged futures position because losses ate through the trader's margin. A cluster of liquidations on one side can accelerate a move further in that direction, since the liquidation itself is a forced market order. Shown for OKX-listed perpetuals only — size is in that instrument's own contract units, not necessarily whole coins.

Cumulative depth

The running total of resting size from the best price out to a given level, shown as the wide background bar behind each Order Book row. Answers 'how much size sits between the spread and here' at a glance — a single level's own size can't tell you that by itself.

Entry bias

A computed Long/Short/Neutral lean shown above the Order Book, built from near-mid liquidity imbalance, whole-book imbalance, and nearby wall skew — every factor is shown with its own contribution so you can see exactly what's driving the number. It reads resting limit orders only, never trade flow or momentum, and resting size can be pulled instantly — treat it as one input, not a signal to trade on by itself.

Market macro

Whole-market context: BTC and ETH dominance (their share of total crypto market cap), total market cap, 24h volume, and 24h cap change, from CoinGecko, no key required. Useful for telling a coin-specific move apart from the whole market moving together.

Legislation tracker

Live status on crypto-relevant bills via the official congress.gov API. Needs a free key in Settings — without one it shows static preview data instead of live status. Alerts on a status change, not on a fixed schedule.

RSI confluence

A symbol where at least two-thirds of its reporting timeframes are simultaneously overbought or oversold. One timeframe hitting an extreme is common noise; most of them agreeing at once is a stronger — though still not guaranteed — alignment.

Data feed health

A quick connected / needs-key summary for every optional data feed (Twelve Data, metals.dev, EIA, Etherscan, Congress.gov). It reflects whether a key has been saved, not whether that key is actually valid.

Bot uptime & staleness

Each running bot card shows how long it's been running and flags when it's gone quiet — no log output for 2+ minutes while still marked Running. A bot can stay 'Running' after its process hangs or a connection drops silently; the quiet flag is what catches that.

Each definition says what the metric measures and where it misleads you. That second half is the part most glossaries leave out, and it is why this one exists: a number you cannot interpret is worse than no number.

These live next to the data.

In Crupto Terminal every one of these sits in the panel it describes, so you are never looking at a metric you cannot read.
